German Support for Water and Sanitation Services at Gweru - German Ambassador hands over equipment
German Ambassador Dr. Albrecht Conze on 24 March 2011 handed over equipment to the City of Gweru aiming at improving water supply and sanitation services.
The German Government through GIZ (German International Cooperation) is carrying out emergency measures in the Zimbabwean towns of Gweru, Kadoma, Kariba and Norton to improve the dire situation of the water supply and sanitation services in these towns. Germany has made available USD 12 million for tools, equipment, vehicles, water pumps and IT-infrastructure for the support of these four municipalities which started in 2009.
The total value of the support received by the City of Gweru in the form of tools, vehicles, IT-equipment and repair works is approx. 750,000 USD.
